A pool deck in Las Vegas has to drain well and offer sure footing when wet. Ram Masonry builds new pool decks in pavers or poured concrete once the pool builder finishes the shell. We replace cracked or sunken decks around existing pools and widen decks that are too narrow. We also set the coping, the cap where the deck meets the water. Ram Masonry has built in the valley since 2014. We hold Nevada C-18 masonry license number 0080771, bonded and insured, with workers' compensation coverage.
A pool deck call usually starts with a problem you can see. The deck has cracked or sunk, or it is only three feet wide. Coping is loose or chipped, or the surface feels too hot or slick. On the first visit we take measurements and check which way the deck drains. We look at the coping and the joint where it meets the deck. We also mark sprinkler lines and the pipe runs to the pool equipment. Call (702) 769-4416 to book a free written estimate.

A pool deck job can mean a new deck around a new pool, after the shell is finished. It can mean tearing out an old deck and building a new one in its place. It can also be an extension that widens a narrow deck. The same job can add masonry, like block seat walls or raised planters along one side of the pool.
The pool builder handles the shell, the plaster, the tile line and the pool equipment. A licensed plumbing contractor runs any gas line. The City of Las Vegas requires a mechanical permit for gas piping. That includes a gas line for a BBQ, a fire pit or a pool heater. We build the deck, the coping and masonry like an outdoor kitchen or BBQ island.
A paver pool deck is built from separate units over a packed base. Small ground movement shows up as a paver or two out of line. We lift those units one at a time, fix the base and set them back. Paver coping in a matching color can finish the pool edge. The base work is laid out on our paver installation page.
Stamped concrete is one slab with a pattern pressed into the surface while it is wet. Once it cures, it gets a sealer. On pool decks the sealer carries a fine grit, which gives wet feet traction. The sealer needs fresh coats over the years, and the grit goes back in each time. Patterns and colors are on the stamped concrete page.
Broom-finished concrete is the simplest pool deck. Dragging a broom over the fresh slab leaves fine ridges that give wet, bare feet traction. One national cost guide lists poured concrete for less than stone or pavers around a pool. Whatever the surface, light colors feel cooler on bare feet than dark ones. We pour it the same way as our concrete patios.
Coping is the cap on the pool's top edge, between the water and the deck. Common choices are paver bullnose, natural stone, brick and precast pieces. Each piece sets in mortar on the bond beam, the concrete top of the pool wall. We put a flexible joint between the coping and the deck. It lets the deck move in summer heat without pushing on the coping.
A deck redo is a good time to replace loose or chipped coping. One national cost guide puts pool coping at $40 to $80 per linear foot on average. It also says replacing old coping costs more than installing new. If the bond beam under it needs repair, that work goes to the pool builder first. Tile and plaster stay with the pool builder too.
A pool deck should slope away from the water and the house. The City of Las Vegas pool handout requires a slope away from the pool, set by the deck surface. Clark County's pool code sends drainage from perimeter decks away from the pool and nearby buildings. At a stucco wall, the weep screed along its base sets a limit. City of Las Vegas pool inspections check that no slab is poured within 2 inches of it.
The National Weather Service says monsoon storms, typically in July and August, can bring heavy rain and flash flooding. That water, plus splash and sprinkler overspray, needs a path off the deck. Planters along the edge need drainage too, so wet soil does not sit against the slab. Block planter walls can hold those beds back. Before concrete or pavers go down, we strip soft soil and compact a base.
It depends on the city and the deck height. The City of Las Vegas exempts private concrete slabs not more than 30 inches above adjacent grade. It requires a permit to build a deck more than 30 inches above grade. Clark County's exemption names walks and driveways only. In the unincorporated valley, we confirm pool decks with the county desk. Henderson and North Las Vegas run their own desks, and we check the rule for your parcel.
The City of Las Vegas requires a barrier for any pool, hot tub or spa, and no exemption covers it. So the barrier has to stay in place through the job. The city calls its permit list a guide, not a complete one, and sends homeowners to the building department. Where your community requires it, HOA approval for a new deck surface comes before work starts.

Call or send the form, and photos by text get a fast first read. For a firm number we come out, measure the run, and check what sits under the job: grade, access, caliche, old work.
You get a written price and timeline before any work starts. If a permit or engineering applies, the estimate says so. Repair and rebuild get quoted as separate numbers when both are on the table.
Footings dug to bearing and inspected, rebar and grout in the cells, base compacted before concrete, mortar kept from drying too fast in the heat. The parts you never see get built like the parts you do.
We walk the finished work with you: walls plumb, joints full, slabs draining the right way, site cleaned up. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.

Vegas heat and monsoon wind punish shortcuts. Early summer pours, mortar kept from drying too fast, drainage behind every retaining wall, footings cut through caliche instead of stopping on it.
