Pahrump sits in Nye County, about 63 road miles west of Las Vegas on NV-160. The highway climbs over Mountain Springs Summit at 5,496 feet. Then it drops into a wide valley between the Spring Mountains and the Nopah Range. Pahrump is unincorporated, and the 2020 census counted 44,738 people. Lots here run big. Developers platted the valley into half acre to five acre parcels in the 1960s and 1970s. The Calvada grid still sets the pattern. Zoning districts like RE-1 and RH-4.5 allow horses and livestock, so corrals and barns are part of the view. Manufactured homes sit beside site built houses on the same streets. More than 11,000 domestic wells serve homes in the Pahrump basin, and septic systems are common on the same lots. Under the dirt, the valley floor is fan gravel and fine sediment off the mountains, with caliche in many places. Summer heat runs hard, and the National Weather Service issues wind advisories for the valley.
Ram Masonry builds perimeter block walls on those big Pahrump lots. That runs from a short courtyard wall to a full property line run. We build retaining walls for graded lots, plus pilasters, caps, and gate openings. Concrete is the other side of the work. We pour concrete slabs and pads for barns, shops, and RV parking, along with driveways and patios. Pavers, brick, and stone veneer go on when you want a finish other than gray block. We also build outdoor kitchens and BBQ islands in block, faced to match the house, plus fireplaces. The company holds Nevada C-18 masonry license number 0080771, bonded and insured, and has built in southern Nevada since 2014. Estimates are free, and the price comes in writing after we see the lot.

A perimeter block wall around a full acre runs several hundred linear feet. So wall height and block choice move the price more than they do on a valley lot. One option is to wall the house and yard and leave the pasture to pipe rail or wire fence. We price both ways so you can pick.
The well head, the septic tank, and the leach field set where a wall or a slab can go. A footing trench should stay off the leach field, and a slab over the tank blocks the pumper. We locate those before the layout is drawn. On lots with horses, the wall line also has to work with the corrals and the gate the trailer uses.
Under the dirt, the valley floor is alluvial fan gravel off the Spring Mountains. It grades to finer sediment toward the middle of the valley. Caliche shows up in many of those soils, and it changes footing time from lot to lot. Wind runs hard across the open valley, so a tall wall gets footing width and steel sized for that.
Pahrump is about 63 miles from Las Vegas by road, a little over an hour each way. That drive shapes the schedule. We book Pahrump work as full days, so crew and material make one trip and get a full day in. Estimates get grouped the same way where we can.
Ready mix has to be timed to the crew's arrival. Summer pours start early, before the heat sets the mix. We line up the truck and the crew so neither one waits on the other. For a big slab, that planning is most of the job.
Everything else works the way it does in the valley. You get a written price after we see the lot. The permit gets pulled where one is needed, and the work gets inspected. Pahrump owners get the same scope sheet a Henderson owner gets.
Pahrump has no city hall issuing permits. Building permits come from Nye County Building and Safety at its Pahrump office. Land use runs through Nye County Planning under the Pahrump Regional Planning District code. Nye County Code requires a building permit for walls and fences over six feet.
Shorter walls still have to meet the zoning rules in Title 17. The county asks for an approved zoning review application before any construction starts. Nye County also requires a building permit for any new structure over 200 square feet, or in a commercial zone. Retaining walls get checked with the county case by case.
Setbacks depend on the zoning of the lot. A wall on an RH-4.5 parcel can follow different lines than one in a Village Residential tract. We confirm the rules for your parcel with the county before we bid. Then we pull the permit on the jobs we build.
