One national estimator’s current figure is $23.62 to $42.50 per square foot. Wall prep, corners and arches move the number, so a site look sets the price.
What does manufactured stone cost versus natural thin veneer?
Manufactured stone is concrete cast in molds, so it costs less to buy and set. National 2026 guides price it at $10 to $35 per square foot installed, material at $5 to $20. Natural thin veneer is real stone sawn about an inch thick. It runs $15 to $45 installed, with material alone at $15 to $30 for most types.

One Las Vegas contractor page lists material at $5 to $15 and labor at $10 to $20 per square foot. That lands in the same $15 to $35 zone, and a 200 square foot job runs $3,000 to $7,000 there. Any stone veneer installer in Las Vegas should quote by the finished square foot and list the prep separately.
Waste is the quiet difference. Manufactured stone is made to fit, so guides put waste near 2 percent. Natural stone gets cut on site and can lose 10 percent or more to trim. That shows up in the material line.
What does the wall need before the stone goes on?
Clean block or poured concrete takes stone veneer directly, with a scratch coat on the masonry. Stucco over wood frame, which covers most Las Vegas houses, needs prep first. That means two water barrier layers, galvanized lath and a half inch scratch coat. Guides price the barrier at $2 to $4 per square foot, lath at $3 to $4.

The lath has to be corrosion resistant and self furred, so mortar wraps all the way around it. The scratch coat gets scored and cured before the setting bed goes on. How does stone veneer handle desert heat and sun?
Natural stone does not fade, because the color goes all the way through. Manufactured stone is concrete colored with iron oxide pigments that makers call UV stable. The same makers admit subtle lightening after years of intense sun, so dark colors soften on a west wall. Heat itself does not bother either one, since both are masonry.
The install matters more than the material in summer. Mortar dries fast past 90 degrees, so the industry guide calls for hot weather mixing. Paper backed lath has to stay out of the sun, or its glue lets go. A scratch coat that dried too fast never bonds, and that is the failure we get called to fix.
Summer stone work starts at first light for that reason. In Summerlin, a west wall takes full sun until dusk, so that wall gets set in the morning. A cured wall handles 115 degrees without any trouble.
What maintenance does stone veneer need?
Rinse the wall with a hose once or twice a year and keep sprinklers off it. A breathable, penetrating sealer helps manufactured stone hold color and keeps water and dirt out of the face. Makers say reseal every 3 to 5 years and skip glossy film sealers. Film sealers trap moisture and cause the white bloom called efflorescence.
Natural stone can go unsealed on most walls. Loose or fallen stone usually traces to water behind the veneer or a scratch coat that never bonded. The fix is to take the failed area down to the wall, rebuild the prep and reset the stone. The water bead test tells you when the sealer is done: if water soaks in instead of beading, reseal.
